Aluminium Fluoride
Molecular formula:AlF3 Molecular weight:83.98
Purpose: Mainly used in aluminum smelting production to reduce melting point and improve electrolyte conductivity. Used as an inhibitor for side fermentation in alcohol production. It is also used as a fluxing agent and a component of glazes for ceramic glazes and enamel glazes. It can also be used as a flux for smelting non-ferrous metals.
Property: It does not react with liquid ammonia or concentrated sulfuric acid when heated together, or with potassium hydroxide when melted together. Not reduced by hydrogen, not decomposed by strong heat but sublimated, with very stable properties. Heating to 300-400 ℃ can partially decompose into hydrogen fluoride and aluminum oxide by water vapor.
