Properties: white powder or gel crystal, no hygroscopicity. Bitter in taste, slightly soluble in water and hot ethanol, insoluble in cold ethanol and alkali, can be decomposed into boron trifluoride by strong acids such as sulfuric acid, and can melt with alkali metals and carbonates to form fluorides and borates. It begins to decompose during melting. Toxic!
